3 – 9 March 2025
The Haven Wolverhampton invites you to join us in colouring the week purple as we align with the theme for International Women’s Day: Accelerate Action.
What is it all about?
Empurple – ‘to colour or become purple’ – represents a unified voice against domestic abuse and takes on new urgency this year as we embrace the theme: Accelerate Action. Purple, an internationally recognised colour for campaigns against domestic abuse, continues to symbolise justice and dignity. This year, it also stands as a call to action – urging us to move beyond awareness and take bold, tangible steps towards ending domestic abuse and creating a more equitable society.
We envision a world that is diverse, safe, and free from bias, stereotypes, and violence. This year, we are challenging everyone to move from conversation to action – to celebrate women’s achievements, actively challenge discrimination, and drive meaningful change.
Below are some ways you can take action during Empurple Week. Your participation directly supports vulnerable women and children at The Haven Wolverhampton, helping us raise vital funds to rebuild lives affected by domestic abuse. So, wear your purple ribbons, bake purple cakes, fill your spaces with purple balloons, change your Teams and Zoom backgrounds – and, most importantly, take action.
Whether it’s fundraising, volunteering, advocating for policy change, or supporting survivors, every effort counts in making a lasting impact. Let’s not just talk about change – let’s Accelerate Action together!
How you can you get involved?
Wear your purple ribbon with pride, as we celebrate women and strive to make the world a more gender-equal place for future women.
Wear purple to work, purple balloons at the office, purple screen savers, and backgrounds for virtual meetings or plan a purple-themed fundraising event?

Share your thoughts on accelerating action and send us your images using the form below. We would live to amplify your voice on social media.
Have your say…
