About this training:

Overview: This course offers an in-depth exploration of domestic abuse, including the latest legislation, prevention strategies, and best practices for providing support to victims and survivors. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the complexities of domestic abuse and learn practical skills for responding to and preventing abuse in various settings. This course is ideal for professionals who work with victims of domestic abuse or are responsible for implementing policies and programs related to domestic abuse prevention.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the insidious nature of Domestic Abuse, including Coercion and Control.
  • Understand the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and the duties placed on Local Authorities and Powers placed on the Police.
  • Identify behaviours perpetrators will use to maintain or regain control.
  • Understand the barriers that victims of abuse face including additional barriers for minoritised communities.
  • Understand the importance of early identification, intervention, and prevention.
  • Respond to a disclosure of Domestic Abuse sensitively in a trauma informed way.
  • Consider risk assessment protocols.
  • Understand the role of MARAC and practice reviews.
