Overview: This course examines the role of language in shaping perceptions of Domestic Abuse in media, public discourse, and interpersonal communication. Participants will analyse the impact of language choices and “dominant discourses” on victims, survivors, and society’s understanding of Domestic Abuse. Additionally, the course will explore the effects of Domestic Abuse on children’s speech and language development and provide guidance on appropriate language usage when discussing Domestic Abuse. Participants will also learn about accessible resources to deepen their understanding of the subject.
