Orange The World with The Haven

25th November – 10th December

Will you take a stand against domestic abuse and violence with us for 16 Days of Activism this year? There is no excuse for abuse so join us to empower survivors with language that heals and not blames.

What is it all about?

Each year, from November 25 to December 10, the world unites for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign dedicated to ending violence against women and girls. This vital initiative begins on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls and concludes on Human Rights Day, symbolising that violence against women is a fundamental violation of human rights.

As the leading domestic abuse service provider in Wolverhampton, we are deeply committed to this cause and we support the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Orange Wolves campaign. This campaign is more than just a call to action; it is a collective effort to shine a light on the pervasive issue of gender-based violence and mobilise everyone—from individuals to corporations—in pursuit of meaningful change. Your support amplifies awareness and strengthens our resolve to protect and empower survivors.

Language Matters

This year we are asking you to mind your language. Violence against women and girls is never acceptable, and we must recognise the power of language in shaping our understanding of abuse and supporting victims/survivors. Language not only reflects our values but also influences our actions. We must choose words that empower survivors, rather than perpetuating a culture of blame and stigma. By being mindful of our language, we can foster an environment where victims/survivors feel safe, supported, and heard. Together, we can use our words to create a future where violence against women and girls is not tolerated. For more on this, download our toolkit using the link below.

How you can you get involved?

Attend an Orange Wolves event, wear orange, light up your space or fill it with orange balloons, change profile images or team backgrounds to show solidarity and align with the Orange the World movement.

Use your platforms to share inspiring content, using the hashtags #LanguageMatters, #NoExcuse and #16Days. You can reshare content from our social media pages from the 25th of November.

Would you like to find out how language can perpetuate harmful narratives about domestic abuse and learn how we can talk about it so that we are respectful to survivors and avoid victim-blaming?

Show your support for victims/survivors by hosting an orange-themed bake sale or other fundraising event and donate to The Haven, your local charity supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.
