The Haven Wolverhampton was established by two volunteers in 1973 and since then we have continued to support the needs of our ever expanding volunteer base. Volunteers provide practical and emotional support to women and children suffering domestic violence, homeless and abuse.
The Haven Wolverhampton has offered a supportive volunteer programme for many years We currently have over 100 volunteers who offer their support on a full or part time basis that help to keep our services running.
Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the work and delivering life changing services to women and children. The opportunities we offer allow volunteers to use their specialist skills, learn new skills and enhance their skill base for future employability, meet new people and have fun! Volunteers' dedication also helps us as an organisation to support and improve the services offered to our client group.
All Haven volunteers receive Domestic Violence Awareness Induction Training. When as a volunteer you have completed 6 months volunteering, as a committed volunteer you are given the opportunity to achieve a recognised level 3 OCNWMR qualification in ‘Working with Survivors of Domestic Violence’.
Any offers of volunteering will be subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), two satisfactory references and completion of the Domestic Violence Awareness Induction Training.
The Haven Wolverhampton welcomes applications from both male and female volunteers aged 16 or over. We aim to support volunteers with varying levels of ability providing supportive programmes in order to meet a range of needs.
You do not need any formal qualifications to become a Haven volunteer. Everyone can play a role in helping others whether you have specialist skills or would like to gain new skills.

The Haven Wolverhampton are a leading Women’s Refuge based in Wolverhampton providing short-term, temporary accommodation to women and children. It has a reputation for excellence and innovation. We help families rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic violence, abuse and/or homelessness enabling them to face the future with confidence and hope.
We are seeking to appoint a new Treasurer with experience of strategic financial management to join our strong and dedicated Board of Board Members
The role of Treasurer is both interesting and highly valuable, giving insight into and a role in strategic development, delivery and sustainability of our services. The Treasurer will support the Board with developing strategy and providing oversight of financial management of The Haven Wolverhampton.
As Treasurer you will have a relevant qualification in accountancy or financial management and will have experience or knowledge of Charity Finance, fundraising and pension schemes.

Please note that due to the charitable status of The Haven Wolverhampton, this is an unpaid position and would require that individuals attend meetings of the Board and its Sub-Committees, Working Groups and Task and Finish Groups held in the daytime or occasional Saturday mornings. The Haven Wolverhampton also provides volunteering opportunities for women aged 18 to 30 living in Europe through the European Voluntary Service (EVS) programme. We are credited as a hosting organisation – accreditation number 2012-GB-85. We are able to offer voluntary placements, which includes accommodation, for between 6 and 12 months. The Haven Wolverhampton is also able to provide volunteering placements for both male and female volunteers from across Europe through the European Training Service (ETS). ETS is funded as part of the Leonardo Project which is a European Commission incentive. To enquire about a placement through the ETS scheme please email email@example.com.
Social Work Student Placements The Haven Wolverhampton currently 4-6 placements a year to students actively studying a Diploma in Social Work. Placements are offered through Universities that apply directly to The Haven Wolverhampton (not the student). We are able to offer placements in our refuges supporting victims of domestic violence as well as placements with outreach workers.
