International Work

The Haven Wolverhampton's vision is for all women and children to live in a society free from oppression, homelessness, violence and abuse and to promote and uphold human rights.

The Haven Wolverhampton currently works with a number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs) around the world to strengthen their capacity to support women and children victims of violence and abuse.

We have worked with a number of professionals from organisations in IndiaNigeriaRussiaSaudi Arabia and Uzbekistan in order to help raise awareness of the needs of women and children affected by domestic violence, homelessness and abuse.

The Haven Wolverhampton is keen to develop strong links with other women's organisation abroad in order to address women's issues at an International level.

What can we offer International Stakeholders?

With over 15 years of experience of working with international partners The Haven Wolverhampton is able to offer a variety of training and consultancy packages to assist visitors who are keen to expand their knowledge of women's issues.

Training Programmes

The Haven Wolverhampton offers international guests the opportunity to take part in our National Open College Network (NOCN) accredited Domestic Violence Awareness Training programmes. Training covers a variety of module topics which centre around working with victims of domestic violence. For more information please click here.

We are also able to develop and deliver bespoke training programmes to suit the needs of International Stakeholders. The programmes will consist of a series of training sessions, lectures and workshops, meetings with staff, visits to refuges and other external support agencies.


The Haven Wolverhampton has experience of conducting research in the field of domestic violence in partnership with academics from UK and abroad. The Haven Wolverhampton has the capacity to help an International Charity to identify and access resources in the UK, develop methodology and arrange contact with academics in order to support the development of research and policy to influence how victims of domestic violence are supported in their country.


The Haven Wolverhampton is also able to offer consultancy and bespoke training covering the different aspects of setting up and running a charity. Training will include:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members
  • Human Resource Management and Workforce Development
  • Developing systems for accountability: monitoring and evaluation
  • Project design, planning and implementation
  • Fundraising
  • Running a refuge for women and children
  • Rent management
  • Development of professional standards and learning resources
