The Haven's History

Join us as we reflect on our rich history. Since our humble beginnings in 1973, The Haven Wolverhampton has been at the forefront of transforming lives and breaking the cycle of domestic abuse.

Believe Women

We can break the wall of silence when survivors no longer feel stigmatised, blamed, and shamed. We all have a role to play and with our practical and emotional support, you are never alone.

Protect Children

We have a team of trained specialists dedicated to safeguarding children and young people. We offer both practical and emotional support.

Gifts In Kind

Thank you for thinking about us. We are currently not able to accept your kind donations of clothing or items. But there are other ways you can support us.

Be Empowered

Our training and policy advice services empower professionals and employers to respond to Domestic Abuse and take appropriate action.

50 Years of The Haven

Welcome to our website. For half a century since we first opened our doors in 1973, we’ve been dedicated to providing practical and emotional support to women and children who have faced domestic abuse, as well as women at risk of homelessness. As we reflect on this significant milestone, we are thrilled to launch a special history timeline on our website, chronicling the impactful journey of The Haven over the past five decades. In honor of our Jubilee year, we’ve also been collecting inspiring stories from individuals whose lives have been positively impacted by the work we do here at The Haven. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has already shared their stories with us. Your contributions have made our journey all the more meaningful.  If you are being subjected to Domestic Abuse, please do not suffer in silence. Help is available. We are here 24/7 to support you and to help you plan for your safety.
